The CIWM Construction, Demolition and Excavation TAG meets on a quarterly basis to discuss the management of waste on construction and demolition sites.
During 2023 one of the main areas of discussion has been around hazardous wood and its compliant and effective management. This has led to a guidance document which has been updated as amendments to regulatory positition statements have evolved. This is available on the guidance document page of the site. This topic has been in discussion with the Wood Recyclers Association.
The Environment Agency presented to the group in relation to waste construction and demolition soil classification. This is being worked on currently by the group, in conjunction with the Environment Agency.
Another area of work is assessing the availability and robustness of construction, demolition and excavation data. Including recycling and reuse rates.
